Influences

Congratulations to the British Colonies! Beginning to revolt is a big step! But we cannot forget to give credit to John Locke for inspiring their ideas about natural rights- life, liberty, and property.

Yowzer! The Americans won! Their Constitution needs a little bit of work but this time they leaped toward greatness! Don't forget the round of applause for Montesquieu for him concept of separation of power and checks and balances!

Woohoo! The United States stuck their landing with the Bill of Rights! Give a shout out to Voltaire for making sure that the freedom of speech and religion was in the Top 5 Amendments!

The Satire King: Thrown in Jail

the monarchy getting crushed
Our friend Voltaire was sent to jail yet again for insulting the King of France. You would think that his 69 books of political essays would be enough, but he had to write a 70th. In the sequel to Candide, Voltaire mocked the clergy, the aristocracy, and the government. He fought against societie's' prejudiced, intolerance, and superstition. He continued to fight for freedom of speech and for the monarchy to be abolished.

News Report

M= reporter Man
R= Rousseau

M: Your new book The Social Contract has been a huge success, but many people don't even know what it is about, can you elaborate?
R: Of course, it explains my belief is that "contracts" are between individuals to create a society and our government.
M: Wow... Can you explain why the cover has chains on it?
R: Well I reckon that people are naturally good, but this becomes a problem because they cannot be free if they try to hard to please others people or if governments use their goodwill to enslave them.
M: huh. Interesting. Any final words?
R: Yes, I have no doubt that all people are equal, and nobility should be abolished, since it goes against the equality.
M: Thank you.

Separation is Key

Even back in 1748 Montesquieu believed in separation of powers in the government. The people who are in executive power carry out the laws of the state, while the legislative power create the laws. The judges put the laws to use while applying them to separate cases. This oversimplified system turns into checks and balances in our modern society.
What I am proposing is that in the life of a student, there is a two branch system with a separation of powers. There is a school branch where they learn necessary thing to achieve in life after university, and a home branch dedicated to entertainment and leisure. Since many students need time to absorb what they have learned they will have a two hour study hall to review for a quiz or test. To ensure that students are using that time wisely they will be graded on their achievements in the study hall. The tests and quizzes rank the students in their class, and they will get a certificate for a certain bracket to get into university.
See on this page home is SEPARATE from school (work).

The Speaker

As the old rusty Professor Cumberpatch walks up to the stage he taps the microphone and screams "Does this thing work?" The entire auditorium cringes and expects a monotonous lecture, but they are quickly surprised once the professor begins his speech. "What am I talking about again?" Benedict hollers to his sidekick. A military man yells back "Descartes". "Oh yeah" Cumberpatch mumbles. "Well Descartes knew a thing or two in his time. He did not really care about science, what he focused on was math. He brought algebra and geometry together to make analytical geometry, but I'm not to sure if that was a kind service to our current youth. He also relied on logic. Math and logic. Descartes. If you remember that you can work at Google. Heh. Moving on,  He thought that everything should be doubted until it was proven. "I think therefore I am", no matter how odd, it put him into the history textbooks. That's it, I hope. Well, uhh, on a lighter note I would like to announce that the third season of Sherlock is airing next week. Thank you" A warm round of applause followed Professor Cumberpatch.

All Natural Rights

Life, Liberty, and Property
Are you tired of an absolute monarchy polluting our system? Do you believe people can improve through their experiences? Then come and see John Locke speak at the Broadway Salon.  He will point out how people are free and equal and the purpose of the government is to protect our natural rights. If the government fails to do so, then the people have the right to overthrow it. So down with the absolute monarchy and make way for a self-government.

Any violence to come after this is not our liability. People have the natural ability to govern their own affairs and take care of the welfare of society. Locke approves this message

Wicked the Musical: Review

Written by Thomas Hobbes

The curtain opens and a grumpy old man walks in and begins to sing about how people are naturally selfish and wicked. They old man goes on to sing about hoe without a government there would be a horrible war between all men. This song drags on for the entire show. It talks about the social contract between the government and the people and that in order to control people's greed, the ruler or government needs unconditional power. The show was false advertised to be about the life of a witch but instead forced its view on people.

  • Discovered the law of universal gravitation: when everything in the universe is attracted to other objects
  • Published Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy in 1687

The new discovery made by Kepler s German mathematician!

Planets orbit in eclipse

Kepler created a mathematical theory that disproves Copernicus' theory that planets move in circles.

noun \hē-lē-ō-ˈsen-trik ˈthē-ə-rē, ˈthir-ē\

BUT...

Galileo built the first telescope and saved the day because the Heliocentric Theory could be proven!  However, Galileo was excommunicated by the Catholic Church for 500 years for his ideas.

Five Simple Steps

Do you want to become a scientist? Follow The Scientific Method and in five simple steps you can become the next Newton!

  1. Determine the Problem
  2. Create a Hypothesis
  3. Perform experiments to test the hypothesis
  4. Record results
  5. Analyze the results and form a conclusion
Caution (Need background information to use successfully):
  • Originated from Copernicus, Kepler, and Galileo's work
  • This is a logical process

Geocentric Theory

This theory was proposed by Aristotle

It supported the Bible and the Church.

This was when God has put earth in the center of the solar system and the other planets (sun) would circle around it.
